All rooms are charmingly furnished to the high standards of one's home rather than those of rental units. The sitting rooms are furnished with a collection of 18th, 19th, and 20th century furniture.
All amenities are provided: television, VCR and DVD players, phone, fax, radio/stereo/CD player. Direct-dial telephone with fax and voice mail. The kitchens are equipped with all the necessary appliances including cooktop and oven, coffeemaker, toaster, food processor, electric kettle, and microwave. There are washers and dryers in both kitchens. In the kitchen you will also find all the glasses, china, silverware, and utensils to comfortably serve a dinner party for 6 without much trouble.
The one-bedroom apartment sleeps two comfortably, and a third/fourth can be accommodated on the sofa bed in the living room. The two- bedroom has two bathrooms, and works out nicely for three or four people, or a family, and likewise has a sofa bed so up to six can be accommodated.
Cleaning service is provided twice a week after 10 am. Beds will be made, dishes washed, and the rooms vacuumed and dusted. Cleaning staff are courteous and are happy to help fulfill any reasonable request.
Park Mansions is at the hub of one of best shopping and residential areas of London. In addition to the many shops and restaurants in the Park Mansions building, the inimitable Harrods down the street will sell you the normal department store fare, and in their celebrated Food Halls, exotic food from around the world, not to mention a house, a funeral, or an elephant.
Across the street to the north, Hyde Park offers a place to walk, jog, run, row, or swim (at least in summer). You can watch the Household Cavalry schooling their mounts, or watch them ride off in full ceremonial uniform to Horse Guards Parade. You can sail model boats in the Round Pond, or inspect the memorial (recently restored) to Prince Albert. If you fancy making known your views of the issues of the day whether they be global warming or the price of lager, take your soapbox to the northeast corner of Hyde Park on a Sunday and address all who will listen. Or just listen yourself. Walking in Hyde Park/Kensington Gardens is one of the pleasures of London.
If you like to visit museums, The Natural History Museum, the Science Museum, and the Victoria and Albert (V&A) - are only a few minutes walk away. At the Albert Hall, about the same distance, there are concerts--classical and popular--several nights a week. Buckingham Palace is a mile in the other direction.
It's about a 5-7 minute walk to Hyde Park Corner, 15 minutes to Buckingham Palace, 20-30 minutes to Piccadilly Circus or Westminster. But if you’re not inclined that way you can always take a taxi.
Buses go from both sides of the building and from the top of Sloane Street. The Knightsbridge Underground Station is directly across the street. Trains run eastbound to Hyde Park Corner, Green Park, Piccadilly Circus, Leicester Square and Covent Garden; westbound for South Kensington, Hammersmith, and Heathrow Airport. Taxis are available, usually instantaneously, right outside the door.
